Iceland · 7 Days / 6 Nights · Self-Drive
The classic Iceland road trip. Seven days circling the island in summer with long daylight hours, dramatic scenery at every turn and the freedom to stop wherever you want.
Pick up your car at Keflavík airport and drive to Reykjavik. Explore the city — Hallgrímskirkja, the harbour, colourful Laugavegur street and Reykjavik's thriving restaurant scene.
Drive the Golden Circle visiting Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall. Continue south to Seljalandsfoss — walk behind the cascade in the long summer evening light.
Visit Skógafoss waterfall then continue to Reynisfjara black sand beach with its dramatic basalt columns. Drive through Vík and along the coast towards the glaciers.
Spend the morning at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon watching icebergs calve and drift. Walk Diamond Beach where ice washes ashore. Continue to the fishing town of Höfn for fresh langoustine.
Drive through the East Fjords — winding roads with mountain and ocean views at every turn. Continue north to Dettifoss and the Mývatn geothermal area with its bubbling mud pools and lava formations.
Explore Akureyri and visit Goðafoss waterfall. Drive west to the Snæfellsnes peninsula — Kirkjufell mountain, Arnarstapi cliffs and lava fields beneath the Snæfellsjökull glacier.
Drive back to Reykjavik. Drop off your car and the trip ends. Extend your stay or head to the airport.
