Iceland · 7 Days · Self-Drive
An independent Ring Road circuit with flexibility to explore at your own pace. Pre-booked accommodation and a suggested route — you decide the stops.
Pick up your car and explore Reykjavik. Walk along the harbour, visit Hallgrímskirkja and browse the shops on Laugavegur. Overnight in the capital.
Drive north to the Borgarfjörður area. Visit Hraunfossar — unique lava waterfalls seeping through a lava field — and Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring.
A longer driving day along the north coast. Stop at fishing villages, take in the fjord views and arrive in Akureyri — the capital of the north — in the evening.
Explore Akureyri at your leisure. Optional whale watching trip in Eyjafjörður. Visit Goðafoss — the "waterfall of the gods" — before continuing east.
Scenic drive through the East Fjords to Egilsstaðir. Wind along dramatic coastal roads with mountains plunging into the sea. Stop at small fishing villages along the way.
Drive south to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach. Continue along the south coast past Skaftafell, through Vík and Reynisfjara black sand beach.
Drive back to Reykjavik. Drop off your car and the trip ends. Extend your stay or head to the airport.
