Check-in from 11:00 am. Departure at 1:00 pm from the Split harbour as we cruise towards Stari Grad on the island of Hvar where records confirm that this is the sunniest Adriatic island. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore this unique town and its famous horseshoe-shaped bay. The famous Stari Grad Field (a plain) is the oldest in Croatia and the best-preserved example of the ancient Greek system of agriculture. Both the old town and this plain are part of the world heritage protected by UNESCO. Overnight in one of the ports of Stari Grad, main or ferry port (2 km away) depending on availability in port.

Day 1: Reykjavik, Iceland
Arrival and accommodation check-in

Arrival transfer from Keflavik airport to Centerhotel Plaza (transfer optional) which is located in the heart of Reykjavik’s Old City. Despite its location and the city lights, the Northern Lights can often be seen there. The hotel even offers a wake-up service if the Northern Lights appear. Overnight in Reykjavik.

Day 2: Reykjavik - Vik, Iceland

Today you will drive through the famous Golden Circle.

We tour the renowned Golden Circle with a visit to Thingvellir National park, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. It is here where the North American and European tectonic plates are drifting apart at a rate of 2-6 cm per year. Thingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930. Then we head for the famous Geysir Hot Spring area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes. We also visit Gullfoss (Golden) Waterfall. After visiting these world-famous sights and a visit to a local horse stable and greenhouse, we drive through the landscapes of South Iceland to our accommodation near the rural town of Vik, where we will stay for 2 nights at Hotel Katla. If weather permits, we head for a Northern Lights hunt: the experienced guide will determine the best night for possible viewing. Overnight in Vik.

Day 3: Vik, Iceland
Visit the Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Start your morning with the included breakfast before we head east, along Iceland’s southern shore to the unique Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. The lagoon developed around 60 years ago with the continuous carving and falling of icebergs from the glacier Breidamerkurjökull. The lagoon is filled with fish that drift in from the sea along with the tides and seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch the fish during winter, which is a sight to be seen. On our way back to our hotel in Vik, we also visit Skaftafell National Park which contains some of the most prized natural sights of the country. Overnight in Vik.

Day 4: Vik - Reykjavik, Iceland
Visit waterfalls and volcanoes all day long

Breakfast is once again served before we set out on our return to Reykjavik. Our drive along the southern coast has highlights such as the Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls, as well as the glaciers and volcanoes of Myrdalsjökull/Katla and Eyjafjallajökull. We will visit the new and exciting Lava Centre which is an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes, and the creation of Iceland over millions of years. The final highlight before arriving back to Reykjavik is the spectacular Blue Lagoon. You have a choice of viewing the lagoon or enjoy soaking in the mineral-rich water with its fine silica mud (bathing admission not included). In the late afternoon, we arrive in Reykjavik, where we will again spend the night in a centrally located hotel. Overnight in Reykjavik.
