Check-in from 11:00 am. Departure at 1:00 pm from the Split harbour as we cruise towards Stari Grad on the island of Hvar where records confirm that this is the sunniest Adriatic island. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore this unique town and its famous horseshoe-shaped bay. The famous Stari Grad Field (a plain) is the oldest in Croatia and the best-preserved example of the ancient Greek system of agriculture. Both the old town and this plain are part of the world heritage protected by UNESCO. Overnight in one of the ports of Stari Grad, main or ferry port (2 km away) depending on availability in port.

Day 1: Sarria, Spain
Duration: 6 days
Sarria accommodation check-in
Today you’ll make your way to your accommodation in Sarria to get checked in. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to relax, explore, and get ready for your big adventure. Overnight in Sarria.
Day 2: Sarria – Portomarín, Spain
Get ready for the first day of a truly unforgettable journey! This is a relatively easy day of walking with moderate inclines and descents. From the stairs leading you out of Sarria, you will be following some beautiful paths lined with oak and chestnut groves, small creeks and ancient monuments. Pass by the 12th-century Romanesque monastery of Barbadelo and the 100km sign at La Compostelana, the minimum distance a pilgrim needs to walk to obtain their official Camino de Santiago Pilgrim’s certificate. In the medieval village of Portomarín, you will find the Church of St. Nicolás and plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can treat yourself to a well-deserved dinner.

Day 3: Portomarín – Palas de Rei, Spain
Today you will be crossing the river Miño (Galicia’s longest river) and ascending steadily towards the Serra de Ligonde, going 350m to 725m of altitude. Pass charming little villages such as Gonzar and Ventas de Narón and perhaps take a break at a Romanesque Church in Santa María in Castromaior or Eirexe. Today’s journey ends in Palas de Rei, a town full of history and at one time a mandatory stopover for pilgrims. Here you can also find some of Galicia’s most outstanding and best-preserved murals.

Day 4: Palas de Rei – Arzúa, Spain
Today you’ll continue downhill, passing the village of Casanova and the delightful village of Leboreiro. You can have a break in the lively market town of Melide (454m), where we recommend trying the octopus (Pulpo Galego), one of Galicia’s most classic dishes. From here the Camino crosses several streams and follows a forest path bringing you to the village of Boente and the church of Santiago. Next is the pretty medieval hamlet of Ribadiso and finally the town of Arzúa (389m).

Day 5: Arzúa – O Pedrouzo, Spain
An exhilarating atmosphere unfolds as your journey’s end draws closer. Pilgrims now feel the close joy of having reached their goal and they begin to revel in happiness and relief with the many companions they met along the way. Today’s walk is along natural pathways through tall groves of Eucalyptus that provide superb shade during your walk.

Day 6: O Pedrouzo – Santiago de Compostela, Spain
This is the final day of your journey to Santiago. After the last 20km, passing through small villages and feeling the thrill of the finish line rushing closer, you will arrive in Santiago to get your last Pilgrim’s stamp and La Compostelana. You can attend the Pilgrim’s Mass and enjoy the city of Santiago and its small streets full of restaurants and bars. Feel the history – and the thousands of pilgrims’ histories – which for many years has been building the bridge between the ancient and the modern Santiago.
