Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about this trip.

No. Australian passport holders can enter Peru visa-free as a tourist for up to 90 days. Make sure your passport has at least 6 months validity beyond your travel dates.

Cusco sits at 3,400 m, which affects most travellers. Spend the first 2 days taking it easy — no alcohol, no heavy exercise, lots of water and coca tea. Most iFlyGo Peru itineraries are paced to acclimatise gradually before the Inca Trail or Salkantay treks.

No — every iFlyGo Peru trip that includes Machu Picchu has the entry permits, train and guide pre-booked. Inca Trail permits sell out 4–6 months in advance, so book your trip early if you want that specific trek.

The classic 4-day Inca Trail is the most iconic and ends at Machu Picchu's Sun Gate but requires permits. Salkantay (5 days) is more dramatic scenery and easier to book. Choquequirao is the most off-the-beaten-path. iFlyGo runs all three.

May to September is the dry season — best for trekking but busiest. April and October are quieter shoulder months with mostly dry weather. The Inca Trail is closed every February for maintenance.
